The moon Trigo is covered in a dense, virulent forest called Bos Eten. It will spread and grow on any substrate, except salt. Though the majority of its 'plant' matter is inorganic, several creatures call it home, including this large, sentient lizard-esque creature. Maya busted into a vault guarded by this fellow, then busted it free and released it into the wider Bos Eten. It's a skilled trapmaker, and more a wiley combatant than a strong one.
Also Chirrup ran off with some of its eggs so its progeny are all over the ship.
